Substantial growth for Southern Manufacturing & Electronics has resulted in a further 35% being added to the exhibition area in order to accommodate a number of new exhibitors, and with a choice of 24 free seminars on offer too, there are now more reasons than ever to attend
Returning to FIVE, Farnborough, on February 13th and 14th 2013, organisers say that the Southern Manufacturing & Electronics show will feature more big-name exhibitors, a larger floor area and even more to see. With exhibitor registrations for 2013 up 30% compared with the same period last year, European Trade & Exhibition Services (ETES) has added a further 35% to the exhibition area – bringing it to 5,350 square meters.
Machinery and Production are among the most popular attractions of the show, and 2013 will see some significant new faces alongside many familiar ones. In addition to the exhibition, the ever popular technical seminar sessions will run throughout the duration of the show.
The seminar programme itself is a complementary blend of technical and business topics covering a range of issues facing manufacturing businesses today. From exporting to emerging markets, to eliminating counterfeit components and designing for commercial success, the sessions genuinely deliver something for everyone.
Many exhibitors will launch products at the show. For example, Human Machine Interface experts EAO will introduce a range of products on stand M43. New for 2013 is the Intuitive Multi-Touch Ring Encoder with gesture recognition software from Grayhill, an HMI that incorporates a touchpad, an optical encoder and a pushbutton in a single package. EAO?will also show its Series 82 stainless steel IP67?vandal resistant pushbuttons, and demonstrate its capability in bespoke HMI?solutions.
HepcoMotion will launch its PRT2 “1-Trak” continuous motion system on stand T36. This gives designers freedom in 2D bearing track design, and allows every conceivable configuration to be realised, exceeding the scope of traditional technology that is limited to combinations of straight lines and curves.
Returning for what will be its third visit to Southern Manufacturing, Monitran will introduce its handheld Vibration Meter. Designed to conform to ISO 10816-3, features will include a colour LCD, the ability to store up to 100 readings (acceleration, velocity or displacement) against a real-time clock, a rechargeable battery and a tough rubberised case. Vision Engineering will demonstrate its new HD digital inspection system and handheld digital inspection magnifier at Southern Manufacturing, as well as updates to the range of measurement systems.
The full range of measurement microscopes, ranging from high resolution video measuring systems to high accuracy optical measuring microscopes, all with new and easy to use software, will be on show, as will the Mantis stereo microscope and the Lynx zoom stereo microscope. All this can be found on stand P13.
On stand K46, Weidmüller will be displaying three functions in one with its Omnimate Power SV/BV?7.62HP Hybrid for power, signals and EMC. For extra convenience and costs savings during installation, this lockable device feed-through connector is not dependent on the pole count of the connector and can be quickly installed without any tools. The Omnimate Signal 3.81 product range serves as the basis for the wide scope of applications which Weidmüller covers with its plug-in connectors for pitch 3.81mm. With 17.5 A instead of 8 A, the connectors feature more than twice the current-carrying capacity possible with previous standards, giving 100% more energy without de-rating, at ambient temperatures up to 65°C.
With more and more British firms exporting into markets around the world, keeping pace with the ever-changing rules and regulations can be a real challenge. Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to draw on the experience of international compliance company – TÜV Rheinland – who will be offering free advice to exporters at the show on stand C18.
Most countries have their own sets of rules to be followed. Certain countries impose mandatory pre-shipment inspection and national certification requirements. These will have to be fulfilled prior to shipment. Failure to do so can result in severe delays, penalties and even shipments being confiscated or returned.
