With the increased need for industry to conserve water and be more sustainable, Morgan Technical Ceramics has developed new ceramic membranes for water filtration and purification.

The porous ceramic disc membranes are said to offer many benefits compared to polymer substrates. The ceramic is robust, and can be used in applications where high temperatures and aggressive cleaning chemicals are prevalent. They can withstand the harsh environments found in wastewater treatments, and do not need replacing as often as plastic alternatives. Also, the membranes do not need a high water flow rate that is required for current ceramic tubular membranes. This saves the energy and cost of pumping water at such flow rates.
