The Carbon Trust has been officially accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for delivering certification to ISO 50001, the international standard for energy management systems.

The ISO 50001 standard represents global best practice in organisational energy management, which can be used to drive continual improvement in energy performance. The certification can be applied to whole organisations, as well as to individual sites and operational divisions.

The award of full accreditation follows a robust assessment process by UKAS, confirming that the Carbon Trust’s independent certification arm has implemented effective audit processes and demonstrated competence in delivering pilot projects. This means that the Carbon Trust is now one of just a handful of bodies in the UK currently able to grant certification to ISO 50001.

The Carbon Trust is also a member of the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Energy Management Campaign, as part of a coalition led by the Governments of Canada, Mexico and the United States to promote the implementation of the ISO 50001 standard.
